Candy Corn Fairy

Zoe has made her mind up about what she wants to be for Halloween.  A Candy Corn Fairy.  Now, of all the costumes she could have picked, this is my least favorite, but this is the one she likes.  I've tried showing her a billion other costumes to get her to change her mind, but she only has eyes for this one. 

So last night, Ray was trying to talk her out of it and as usual, she was adamant that she was going to be a Candy Corn Fairy and that was that.  She finally said to her dad, "You can get your OWN costume."  And that was that. 

 

Home from Maine...for awhile now.

We've  been home for over a month now and not a day goes by that I don't miss Maine and the people that we love there.  Zoe and I had so much fun.  So.  Much.  Fun.  Zoe thrived on the attention of her older cousins and it was fun for me to watch.  We had a wonderful time with our family up there and we can't wait to go back.  I'm hoping that will be this fall! 

Anyway, I got to take Zoe to one of my most favorite places....Old Orchard Beach!  It was exciting to bring her to the same place that I visited as a child.  She loved it!  The pic above was taken at Old Orchard.  She loved it!

Maine Bound

Zoe and I are headed to Maine this summer!! 

Canton

Zoe and I went to the Canton Flea Market all by ourselves last week!  I wasn't sure how she would do and if she had not liked it I would not have blamed her.  But she loved it!  She had a lot fun picking through all of the "junk" looking for goodies.  She was such a trooper.  She sat in her wagon while I pulled her all over the flea market.  And even though she had to share her wagon with all of my finds, she went with the flow. 

The women in our family are known for their love of junking, so I'm thrilled that it looks like my girl is going to carry on that tradition. 

She loved staying in the hotel just as much (if not more) as the flea market.  In fact, when we left for home she cried because we were not going back to the hotel.  All she wanted to do was go back to the hotel and play with her treasures.

She fell asleep quickly tonight.  She usually begs me to hang out in her room with her for a long time, but tonight she told me to get a kiss from her and then I could go.  Shortly after that she was passed out. 

Zoe

Oh, my!  It has been awhile since I last updated.  I'm sorry!  I will be surprised if there is anybody still reading this.  I should be better about keeping it up and believe me, I do feel guilty about it.  Especially with Zoe changing so much and saying and doing so many fun things.  I must update more often.  Yes. 

I actually have a lot of pics to share.  Like the pics we took while were in Disney World!  Yes, we took Zoe for her first trip to Disney World and she LOVED it.  We went with some good friends and we had a blast.  I had the best time seeing Zoe's reaction to the same rides that I rode when I was twelve years old.  Hearing Zoe say, "Again, again, again!"  after getting off of the Haunted Mansion and Small World was so much fun.  Lots and lots of pics of Zoe with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pooh, etc.  We can't wait to go back! 

Did I mention that Zoe got her first haircut since we've known her?  Did I?  I can't remember.  I took pics of her getting her first visit to the salon.  Must post those. 

But for now, here is a pic I took of her at her Grandma and Grandpa's house in LA this last weekend.  She is getting so big.   

The Haircut

Zoe had her hair cut for the first time since we've known her recently (April 12).  Yep.  Only it was unplanned and on on a whim.  And it was done with those "harmless" scissors made for kids.  Yes, Zoe cut her own hair!!  But I have to give her credit, because it looks just fine! 

I was in the kitchen when she came in to see me from the living room.  She had this look on her face....like, "Oh crap!"  Then she told me, "I cut my hair."  And sure enough, she had.  A decent pile of hair on the living room floor was proof.  And a chunk of her bangs had gone missing!  Her bangs!  Of course!  The one part of her hair that I had no intention of cutting.  Her bangs.  Hah! 

Anyway, it does look fine.  I gathered up all of her prescious hair off of the floor (sniff), tied a bow around it and then put it in a baggy so I can keep it.   I've never had her her hair cut since we've known her.  Whether her hair was cut in China, I don't know.  It is common that the children have had their heads shaved, but I don't think Zoe has ever had much hair, so I wonder if they ever bothered to shave her head.  Her hair has taken nearly four years to get where it is today and I have always loved it.  I love the little hairstyle it grew in to.  And even when people have told me that I needed to cut her hair, I didn't do it because I didn't want to.  And I'm glad that I didn't.  I'm glad that it was Zoe. 

Now of course, when she came out and told me that she had cut her hair I said, "What!!???" And she started to cry and I was kind of upset.  And then we both calmed down and it was over with.

Before I forget...the week before Zoe cut her hair she had been asking me to cut her hair.  And one night she said to me, "I want it all gone." 

I asked her, "You mean, you want to be bald?" 

"Yes, all gone!"

"Sure!  We can do that for you!"

After thinking about that for a few minutes she said to me, "Mom.  I don't want it to be all gone." 

Panties

When I went to pick Zoe up from school last Friday I forgot that she would be at the pool.  It slipped my mind.  And this meant that forgot to bring her underwear with me!  You see, when I drop her off on Fridays she wears her bathing suit under her clothes and then I bring undies for her later on.  Zoe was quite upset about not having her panties let me tell you.  She was appalled.  "You forgot my panties?  But I need them.  I need my panties, mom." 

The whole way out of the gym she practically yelled, "Ohh no, I forgot my panties.  I need my panties." 

And I'm all, "Okay, Zoe, not so loud, all right?" 

"But I need my panties.  You forgot my panties!" 

And this woman who works there walked by laughing and said, "Oh honey, I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten my panties.  It happens!" 

Needless to say, I will not forget Zoe's panties again.

Old Pic and tidbits.

This is a picture of Zoe from this summer.

Even though Valentine's Day is over, she is still telling us several times a day, "Happy Valentine's Day!" It is sweet.

The other day I asked her if she wanted a brother or a sister? She said, "I want a brother and a sister."

She sleeps in her sleeping bag every night. Last night, I went down to check on her and she was out of her bag, so I removed it from the bed and covered in her duvet. Well, come 1:00 in the morning, she showed up by my side of the bed and said, "Mom, I need my sleeping bag." Okay, then! I got out of bed, went down with her, tucked her back in her bag and she was out within moments.

Just now I checked on her and she has tucked Elmo and Dora into their own little bed that she made for them on her rocking chair.

Ugh. Dental appointment for me tomorrow. I'm dreading it. As soon as I drop her off at school, I get to go to the dentist. I'll be happy when 11:00 rolls around tomorrow, because then I'll be free. And then Zoe and I head over to the Heart Hospital where I get to have an echocardiogram. I don't mind that test. I'd much rather have an echo than get my teeth cleaned. The last time I did this test, Zoe was just a wee babe. I remember it clearly, because it was the first time she said Mama! She had not said a word at this point and Ray was holding her during the echo. She didn't like that I was on the table and that she couldn't be with me, so she yelled, "Mama!!!" I'm sure that at that moment my echo caught my heart swelling to twice its' size.

Leaps!

This is one Zoe's new fave things to do.  She always calls for me to take her picture while she does this because she likes to come over after to check herself out in my camera.  And then she wants to do it again and again.  I wish you could see the smile on her face in the last pic because it is a big one. 

Superhero Zoe

Most nights after Zoe has gone to bed, she comes out at least once to show me that she has changed her clothing. She detests wearing pjs now and instead prefers day time clothes to sleep in. It is not uncommon for her to sleep in a dress and leggings. Or occasionally she goes for just her pullup. She also enjoys sleeping in 12 month sized sweaters that she found in her closet. Yes, they are snug. So tonight she came out in leggings, a dress (knit long sleeve), and a bib around her neck but facing backwards. She told me that the bib was her cape and that she was a superhero. I told her how awesome she was and told her to go back to bed. She said to me, "Okay, but say, "Good night, superhero Zoe!"
